This year’s Kenyatta University Foundation golf tournament set for today and tomorrow at Muthaiga Club has attracted over 200 players.

The two-day fund-raising event has attracted top amateur players, who are expected to spice up the event.

They include former club captain Maurice Kanjejo, Allan Hicks, veteran David Farrar, former KGU boss Patrick Obath, former Finance Cabinet Secretary Amos Kimunya (pictured), top lady golfer Susan Kanyora and Yassin Awale among others.

According to the Kenyatta University Foundation programme, co-ordinator and chair of the organising committee Rose Otieno, the purpose of the event is to raise funds for scholarships in support of Orphans and Vulnerable Students (OVS) at the university.

“Currently our student population is over 70,000 spread across various campuses offering different courses. In concurrence with the KU philosophy to be sensitive and responsive to societal needs, and the belief in the right of every person to knowledge, this cause is noble to us,” said Otieno.
