Operations in Kenyatta university paralyzed after lectures and staff down their tools despise a court order barring them – Hundreds of thousands Kenyatta University students face disruptions as public universities are brought to standstill as part of national strike. This is after government narrowed the unions attempt to get their salaries raised.

While affirming the government’s commitment to negotiate with the lectures officials of the universities unions have had issued seven day strike notice for the government to implement the 2013-2017 CBA agreement on higher pay. The unions have accused the top management of public universities of misusing funds provided by government for house allowance. They have also accused VCs of public universities of weakening negotiations demanded by Education  Cs Fred Matiang’i. Among other thing demanded in their proposals includes new grading structure and harmonious salary.

Both the public universities leadership and the ministry of education have yet to resolve these accusations as public universities lectures and staff join health workers who are also pushing for the implementation of a 2013 CBA. However, members have vowed not to relent until the government give pre-bargaining CBA. They have unanimously endorsed the decision to continue the strike in a move they say would solve union’s financial problems once and for all.

Now that the lecturers are on industrial action,all students with no voters card are advised to go a register as voters.golden opportunities like this are rare to find and should be utilised accordingly.voting is a democratic right to any individual, kenyans should come out to register in masses and express their democratic opinions when that time come.dvised to.
